Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal information.

Wake Investigations takes the protection of personal information seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, and the measures we take to protect it.

Who We Are

Wake Investigations is an independent investigative collective. When we refer to "we", "us" or "our" in this policy, we mean Wake Investigations.

What We Collect

We collect very limited personal information:

  • Email address — if you voluntarily subscribe to our mailing list or contact us directly
  • Anonymous usage data — basic, non-identifying information about how our website is accessed (e.g. browser type, referring site)

We do not require accounts, we do not sell products, and we do not collect payment information through our website.

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information only for the purposes for which it was provided:

  • To send you updates about our investigations, if you have subscribed
  • To respond to enquiries you send us
  • To maintain and improve our website

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

Email Subscriptions (Brevo)

Our mailing list is managed through Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), a third-party email marketing service. When you subscribe, your email address is processed and stored by Brevo in accordance with their own privacy policy and GDPR-compliant infrastructure.

You can unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link included in every email we send.

Cookies

Our website uses a small number of essential cookies that are required for the site and the shop checkout to function. These are always active.

We also use optional analytics and advertising cookies, set by Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel. These help us understand how the site is used and allow us to show our work to people who may want to support it. They are switched off by default and are only set if you accept them. You can accept or reject them when you first visit, and change your choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer.

Where you have accepted advertising cookies and complete a purchase, we also share a limited, encrypted set of order details with Meta so that purchases can be attributed correctly. This includes your email address, phone number, name and delivery city, state, postcode and country, all of which are cryptographically hashed before they leave our servers so that Meta cannot read them directly. If you reject advertising cookies, none of this is shared.

Some pages may include third-party services (such as our email subscription form or reCAPTCHA) which may set their own cookies. These are governed by the respective providers' privacy policies.

Your Rights

Under applicable data protection law (including GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Request access to any personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your personal information
  • Object to or restrict processing of your personal information
  • Unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time

Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Email subscribers are retained until they unsubscribe or request deletion.
