Wake Investigations is a collective of investigative journalists, documentary filmmakers and independent experts united by a shared commitment to uncovering the truth. We work independently, free from commercial or political influence, to produce rigorous, evidence-based reporting on issues within industrial animal agriculture that demand public scrutiny.

We believe that credible evidence, freely available, is the foundation of informed public discourse. Our work exists to ensure that important stories are not suppressed, overlooked or left untold.

Why Independence Matters

Industrial animal agriculture is a sector where commercial interests often overshadow public interest. Investigations into this sector are frequently underfunded, underreported or influenced by the very organisations they should scrutinise.

Wake Investigations exists to fill that gap. By operating as an independent collective, we ensure that our investigations are driven solely by the public interest — not by commercial pressure, organisational agendas or the expectations of funders with competing priorities.

Our independence is not just a principle; it is a structural commitment. We control our editorial decisions, our publication timelines and the evidence we release.

Open Evidence

Our investigations and supporting resources are released under a free-to-use licence with responsible-use conditions, allowing journalists, researchers, educators, campaigners and the public to build upon our work while helping prevent sensationalism or misuse.

We believe that evidence gathered in the public interest should remain in the public interest. Open licensing ensures that our work can be verified, built upon and used to inform public discourse — long after publication.
